In recent years, dermal fillers and injectables have been touted as the solution for those seeking facial rejuvenation without a face-lift. Dermal fillers such as Botox and the like have become popular because the injection procedure is quick, there is little to no recovery, and the cost is much lower than surgery. But how do the results obtained from injectables compare to that of a face-lift? Before you decide, be sure you have realistic expectations.
At North Dallas Plastic Surgery, when appropriate we consider non-surgical procedures and treatments for our facial patients.
We’ve seen women from the Allen, McKinney, Plano, and Dallas area come to us who are concerned about the negative side of facial plastic surgery:
- Those who have a fear of surgery, in general
- A fear of looking “over-done” or unnatural
- Concerns about treatment cost especially during an uncertain times
- Advertising claims of great results with minimal cost risk and downtime with facial fillers
We only offer procedures and treatments that have been scientifically proven to be safe and effective. This is especially important in the case of new treatments or products, which should be used only if there is a proven advantage over established methods. Our North Dallas plastic surgeon, Dr. Todd A. Pollock, will meet with you and go over the cosmetic surgery procedure and explain the options to you.

If you are concerned about aging and are considering facial fillers like Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse, we welcome you to contact us for a consultation. Drs. Harlan Pollock and Todd A. Pollock only recommended these fillers after a complete facial evaluation to make sure these treatments are right for you.
Our surgeons, not technicians, are the ones who do facial injections for our North Dallas Plastic Surgery patients. Our doctors believe that, when used appropriately fillers can improve signs of aging and delay the need for cosmetic surgery. They also caution that if they are not used selectively and judiciously, the results can be disappointing.

Did you know Botox only effects wrinkles that are present with muscle movement and disappear when the muscle is relaxed? Inappropriately treating a line that is present without muscle movement will lead to disappointment. For the patient, there can be a dizzying amount of choices: does it matter what kind of doctor should do the injections (after all, some dentists offer them!), the different prices that can be quoted, etc.
Here at North Dallas Plastic Surgery our approach to Botox injections is different:
- Treatments are carried out by our physicians. We believe there is risk related to any procedure and we strive to minimize this risk. We also believe the results are technique dependent, and, therefore, the procedure isn’t delegated to an assistant.
- Our selection of injectable material is based on two factors: safety and effectiveness.

Here at North Dallas Plastic Surgery, when it is appropriate for our patients wanting a cosmetic facial treatment, we consider both non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures as well as surgical treatments. However, the only procedures we offer are those which have been scientifically proven to be safe and effective.
This is especially important in the case of patients who may have heard about new treatments or products. These should be used only if there is a proven advantage over established methods.
On this page of our North Dallas Plastic Surgery website we compare minimally invasive facial procedures to plastic surgery options: http://www.drpollock.com/anything-but-facelift.htm. This compares a variety of minimally invasive treatments to plastic surgery options.

If it bothers you how the signs of aging are appearing on your face – it might be time for a face lift surgery.
At North Dallas Plastic Surgery, our objective is to satisfy the surgical goals of our patients. To achieve these goals, our surgeons, Dr. Harlan Pollock and Dr. Todd A. Pollock, strive to maintain a natural, normal post-operative or post-treatment appearance after the face lift surgery is completed.
Go ahead, educate yourself. Find out more about how we perform face lifts in Dallas and Allen, Texas, from this information we provided for our current – and future! – patients: http://www.drpollock.com/dallas-facelift-surgery.htm
A woman traveled around South Texas recently injecting people with what appears to be some kind of liquid rubber. It was done under the guise that it was collagen or Botox, local and federal authorities said.

Use of a patient’s own fat as a graft can produce long lasting results for facial fillers. However, the results are technique-dependent. Here’s our approach:
- Gentle, water assisted fat collection (Body Jet liposuction)
- Preparation of fat with an advance filter system
- Board certified plastic surgeons & an accredited office operating room facility
This new version of fat grafting has promising results compared to older techniques and does not require repeated injections. A plus for patients!
