When considering any surgical treatment a second physician’s opinion is not just helpful but can be extremely valuable. Most new, unproven surgery procedures or devices might sound really good but they may offer no improvement when compared to the existing techniques (the new technique may just have better marketing behind it).
A second opinion may help answer your questions about the new technique and provide you with alternative treatment choices. Once a procedure is done there is no going back and seeking another opinion afterwards is useless. So, we urge that patients don’t rush into something that is new before obtaining all the facts.
